There is nothing worse than a chipped front tooth! The only thing on your mind is repairing it as soon as possible. It makes it difficult to eat, talk, and smile, and its rough edges may be irritating the soft tissues of your lips or cheeks.
The good news is that there are solutions for broken teeth, such as a dental crown, and your team at Gladnick Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is here to help.
What Is a Dental Crown?
A crown is designed to restore your tooth's function and aesthetics by completely covering it, like a cap. It's designed to closely mimic your tooth's natural shape and shade so it blends flawlessly into your smile, while also protecting the integrity of your root.
Since the crown covers your natural tooth, you'll be able to brush and floss it as you were used to before your tooth broke. You'll also enjoy the same chewing function you had before your tooth was damaged.
How Long Does It Take to Complete a Tooth Crown?
The process for getting a crown is straightforward and takes place in two visits to Gladnick Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. During the first visit, we'll take impressions of your tooth and prepare it for restoration by removing some of its structure to ensure a proper fit. We send the impressions to a dental lab, where the technicians will use our specifications to create your crown.
We'll create a temporary crown for you to wear while the lab fabricates your final restoration, ensuring your smile and chewing function are restored. It typically takes the lab a few weeks to create your custom restoration. When it's ready, you'll return to our Rockville dental office to have it permanently placed.
